: This chef’s knife was made by Zoe Potter of Red Forge. Potter is 24 years old, hails from New Hampshire, and is a current American Bladesmith Society apprentice. Zoe began bladesmithing in 2016 and started making kitchen knives in 2019. Patter has taken several classes at the New England School of Metalwork in bladesmithing and blacksmithing. Outside of bladesmithing, Zoe works as a blacksmith and tool maker.
This high performance chef’s knife is a perfect choice as a primary knife in the kitchen. The long, deep-bellied blade is well suited for chopping vegetables and slicing meats. The gentle arc of the cutting edge is ideal for a rocking chopping motion with plenty of finger clearance over a cutting board.
The 8-1/2 inch blade is hand forged 1084 carbon steel. A forge finish at the top of the blade is set against a hand rubbed satin finish. Because this knife is made from carbon steel, we recommend using camellia oil to oil the blade and stabilized wood handle.
Stabilized Australian spalted silkwood handle scales are set on a canvas Micarta frame for strength and durability. The handle is well contoured for a secure, comfortable grip. Stainless steel Coby bolts set the handle in place. The front of the handle is sealed with a nickel silver bolster. Like other knives, this knife should not be put in the dishwasher.
