: Trevor Morgan Jr. of Apple Valley Forge resides in Apple Valley, California. He forges bowie knives, hunting knives, and high performance chef’s knives. Taking classes with renowned Mastersmith David Lisch has taken Trevor’s work to an entirely different level of design as well as fit and finish. We were extremely pleased to meet Trevor at Blade Show 2023 and be able to offer his exceptional work at our gallery.
This exceptional Bowie was part of Morgan’s JS test set. When a maker tests to become a journeyman, they create five knives that are the height of their work. These five knives are then judged by established masters to determine if the maker’s work is up to snuff. Often, prospective journeymen spend 2-3 times as long creating these five knives as they would generally do, as they know that their work will be poured over by the masters. These five knives are generally considered to be among the most collectable knives of a maker’s career.
The clip point blade is hand forged 1084 carbon steel to provide excellent edge holding and chip resistance. The blade features a meticulous heirloom quality hand rubbed satin finish. The top swedge stops just short of being fully sharpened. Trevor’s touchmark is on the left side of the blade.
The handle is exhibition grade redwood lace burl secured to the tang using a hand domed copper pin. The sculpted handle is extremely comfortable and provides excellent grip. The S-guard is gem bronze and features a hammer finished brass spacer.
