The Gold Mini was designed by Jared Van Otterloo (JVO). This smaller version of the Gold Standard has a 2.7 inch blade — capable of getting any task done — yet the compact size makes it tremendously carry-friendly. The blade is perfectly centered with silky smooth drop shut action — easily opened with one hand using the ambidextrous flipper toggle. It uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play.
The raised clip point blade is hand ground N690 stainless steel, created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. By differentially finishing the blade, JD has emphasized his clean grind lines.
The scales are hand contoured from carbon fiber, meticulously inlaid with green carbon fiber. A terraced heat colored zirconium pivot ring adds flash. Bronze anodized titanium liners surround a carbon fiber backbar. The textured black titanium pocket clip is mounted for right-side, tip-up carry.
