: Journeyman Smith Luiz Gustavo Gonçalves is among the greatest Brazilian bladesmiths alive today. He is a protégé of Eduardo Berardo. His work, which has won numerous awards, clearly speaks for itself. This elegant chef’s knife is remarkably nimble and has perfect geometry.
This high performance chef’s knife is a perfect choice as a primary knife in the kitchen for those that like a slightly shorter, more nimble knife. The deep-bellied blade is well suited as a general purpose chef’s knife. Whether slicing, chopping, mincing, or dicing, this comfortable knife will do it all. The gentle arc of the cutting edge is perfect for a rocking chopping motion with plenty of finger clearance over a cutting board.
This integral chef’s knife was hand forged from L Gustavo’s own Arrowhead pattern damascus. The multi-bar pattern is immediately captivating and dramatic. Gustavo’s maker’s mark and JS are set on the left side of the blade. The damascus pattern moves seamlessly into the integral damascus bolster. Creating integral knives takes a particularly talented bladesmith and L Gustavo is clearly up to the task. The spine and choil are nicely rounded for comfort.
The sculpted handle is chatoyant acrylic resin. The resin has a slight translucence that is exceptionally beautiful and will hold up well to the demands of either a home or commercial kitchen. It is meticulously contoured for a comfortable, secure grip and meets seamlessly with the dramatic integral bolster.
