: This folding knife was handmade by South African knifemaker Herucus Blomerus. A resident of Pretoria, Herucus (pronounced ‘eh-roo-koos’) has been a proud member of the South African Knifemakers Guild since 2005. Ricus’ folders combine incredibly smooth action with a high level of fit and finish. Ricus has become a powerhouse of the South African flipper makers.
The hand ground blade is perfectly centered with silky smooth, drop shut action — easily opened with one hand using the ambidextrous flipper toggle. It uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play.
The drop point blade is N690 stainless steel. N690 is created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds onto it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for easy, quick touchups.
3D contoured handle scales are black G-10. Blue/black G-10 inlays add just the right amount of flash. Anodized titanium liners keep the knife light and strong. The knife is easy to keep close at hand using the 3D machined titanium pocket clip which is mounted for right-side, tip-up carry. A ceramic bearing makes this a particularly effective pocket clip.
This folder would feel at home in most any collection, yet it will hold up beautifully as an EDC. Herucus is clearly a maker to keep an eye out for – exceptional fit and finish throughout!
