: Knife designs by Bob Loveless are legendary in the custom knife industry. The performance and reliability of Loveless’ patterns set them apart. They continue to be made by a wide range of makers and award winning South African knifemaker Deon Nel is considered among the best. His understanding of the Loveless designs and sense of balance is particularly good.
One of the most iconic Loveless knife designs is the Sub-Hilt Fighter. The sub-hilt did not exist in the form now known until Loveless built it in the 1950s.
This Loveless Style Sub-Hilt Fighter by Deon Nel is spectacular. Both the blade and full tang are distal tapered for a perfect balance. The Bohler N690 stainless steel blade was meticulously hollow ground and mirror polished. It is razor sharp. N690 ensures a keen, long lasting edge with good resistance to chipping. It is a great choice for high performance, hard use knives.
Maroon Micarta scales are set on the distal tapered full tang for strength and durability. Vulcanized fiber spacers add a nice contrast. The handle is perfectly contoured for a secure, comfortable grip that you won’t want to put down. It is completed with two Corby bolts and a steel lined lanyard hole. The 303 stainless steel guards meet perfectly to maroon Micarta handle scales.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched, hand tooled cowhide custom sheath.
