: Swedish bladesmith Michael Andersson is a force to be reckoned with. Unlike many Nordic knifemakers, Michael believes very strongly in sole authorship, from forging the blade to shape, to creating the damascus and sewing the sheath. His style is immediately identifiable and is very dramatic.
The 11-1/2 inch blade is multi-bar damascus forged from two bars of twist damascus, separated by a central bar of nickel. The damascus, hand forged from Uddeholm 15N20 and 20C carbon steels, ensures excellent edge holding and chip resistance. We recommend using camellia oil to protect the blade and natural ivory handle.
The handle combines ancient mammoth ivory with a stabilized maple burl frame. The ivory combines coffee and cream tones with rare green and blue tones. These colors move into the ivory from surrounding minerals while being buried in permafrost for thousands of years. The guard, spacer, and end cap are all made from matching damascus, hand forged by Micke. The handle is finished with fluted and polished stainless steel spacers. The contoured handle fills your hand and provides a comfortable grip. A habaki helps ensure excellent sheath fit up and acts as a shock absorber for the handle.
To keep the knife close at hand, a leather sheath with a wood core is included. A matching twist damascus overlay is set on the presentation side of the sheath.
