: This elegant gent’s front flipper was made by South African knifemaker Barry Barnardt. Barry is a part time knifemaker. He puts his attention toward quality and continuous improvement rather than quantity. Barnardt is a member of the Cape Knifemakers Guild as well and the Knifemakers Guild of Southern Africa.
This elegant folder shows this influence of Des Horn. Depite the longer 3-1/4 inch blade, this slim profile knife only weights 1 ounce!
The blade is high performing RWL-34 stainless steel. RWL-34 is a premium powder metallurgy cutlery steel manufactured by Damasteel in Söderfors, Sweden. Because it is manufactured from rapidly solidified powders, the microstructure of the steel is much more uniform. This gives the steel much higher strength and resistance to cracking. Barnardt double tempered and cryogenically treated the steel in liquid nitrogen for the ultimate in edge holding and strength.
The blade has smooth, consistent action and is well centered. It is easily opened using the discreet front flipper mechanism. This style of flipper is rotated with the thumb.
The carbon fiber handle is lightly domed and extremely light. An inset titanium lockbar keeps the blade securely and safely locked open and allows for single handed open and close.
A leather pocket pouch with a metal belt clip is included for storage or extra protection when carrying the knife.
